Nokia Music Store FINALLY in Poland

Nokia Music Store Homepage

Nokia Music Store Homepage

Nokia has recently launched its Nokia Music Store in Poland. THe first branches of this internet based music and audiobooks outlet were launched last year, first in Great Britain tahn in France, Germany and other major West European countries. Now, finally, Finnish Music Store has arrived to Poland.
Currently its offering more than 4,5 millions of tracks (ca 40 % of the amount offered by iTunes). For one track You must pay 3,49 PLN, and for the whole album (regardless of the number of songs on it) 34,90 PLN.
I have tried Nokia Mucis Store and it really works. It is simple to run and You really don’t need to look into manual. Whats more in the store You will find some exclusives (like the new Moby’s album few days before it’s official premiere) and songs of most famous artist but also independent groups.
It is really a good application and a good store with good offer. BUT

But in my oppinion it didn’t fully took advantage of its position and being first in Poland before Apple and its iTunes. Why? Beacause Nokia Music Store is available only for the PC and Windows users. You may say – OK, it clear – they didn’t make application for Mac users, as they would surely use iTunes. But Nokia has forgotten that there are some countries (like for example 40 million people Poland) where there is no iTunes but there are some Mac users who can not – theoretically – use iTunes store. Whats more if Nokia really wants to be a competitor to Apple (who is no longer computer producer but also a MOBILE PHONE producer) it should address Mac users as well.
As a Mac user AND a huge Nokia fan (for me really no mobile phone – excluding iPhone – is as friendly and practical as Nokia) I am a bit sad and dissapointed that I cannot use my Nokia Music Account on my MacBook and its native OS but has to switched to Windows. A bit to much fuss to download one song…..I hope it will change. SOONER than the Nokia Music Store has arrived here.

The moment I will buy a console

with one comment

natalDespite all my love to gadgets, new technology and so on, I’m not a maniacal gamer. OK, “Wiedzmin” (“The Witcher”) is awesome and I can’t deny that I’ve spent some hours with “Star Craft”, “Half-Life” among others. But I have managed to live without super Alienware machine made purely for playing nor PS, Xbox, Wii or even a simple DSLite or PSP.

Till now. Or more precisely till 2010 when  the new XBox 360 is said to hit the market (well, at least Steve Ballmer let fly abut it recently) It wont be just new XBox – with better chip or bigger storage. It is nearly sure that this version of popular console will be equiped with totally new accessory created by the Project Natal engineers.

The new device made for Xbox 360 will allow the player enter into the game – with no controllers, gamepads or even cordless remotes with accelerometers (like the one used with Nintendo Wii). THe black box showed recently during the E3 Show will consist of cameras and microphones, which will see and hear the player and her/his movements and changing into movements of the virtual hero. As Microsoft promises, Project Natal will start new era in gaming – no barriers, no wires – just You in the game. Well, IMHO, it has quite good chances As long as it will work like this:

If it will really work as it is claimed to work (and it will cost a bit less than 10 PS3’s) I think I will finally break and buy Xbox 360. I will have to;-)

And here’s some video form the E3 presentation:

What has (and hasn’t) Apple showed us

with one comment

iphone3gOK, I must admit that I am a Mac-girl and I am writning this post using my Air and my iPhone lays next to me. And that I have been really really curious what Apple will show us during the WWDC keynote. And , sadly, it didn’t show to much. So here is a short summary.

New iPhone
Has everything what it had been expected: a built in compass, voice recording, MMS and video-recording functionality (thanks to new OS), bigger storage (up to 32 GB). etc. And it’s called 3GS, where “S” stands for “speed”, becaouse the newphone is faster than the previous one. As for the design – no changes here, unfortunatelly. OK, the 3G look is really nice but I wouldn’t mind something new. Especially that Apple is really GOOD in designing. Togather with new hardware and new possibilities of iPhone OS 3.0 some new apps have been showed. One which is really worth buing (I hope;-) is first turn-by-turn navigation for iPhone (made by Tom Tom, so good chances it will really work). Interesting thing where applications made for medical purpose such as application for collecting and sending results from sugar level checks. As for the price – those were quite surprising, as Apple has decided to cut down prices of the ‘old” 3G to 99 USD. The new devices are priced

New MacBooks
First – we have a new baby in MacBook Pro family – and 13 inch guy. Maybe You remember there was (shortly and rather quitly living) and aluminium 13 inch MacBook. And that was the guy Apple has decided to upgrade a little and move to the Pro line up. As far as all Pro’s are concerned they all have better screens, un-removable, but longer living batteries, SD card slot and a Fire Wire port in 13″. The real highlight of this part of the Apple keynote were prices. Going down, once again, with 300-400 buck drop down on avarage.

New OS
Beware children, the Snow Leopard is here. Well, in a fact it will arrive in Autumn. Though Apple hasn’t made big changes in the look and layout of the UI, the new OS looks tempting. Especially taht it will cost You – no kidding here – 29 bucks! It is faster, more stabile, has some improvements in the Expose and so on. And it has a built in Exchange (which in case of Windows 7 You will have to buy separately – starnge, isn’t it?)

And last but not least – Jobs.
I think everyone has been expecting to see Good Ol’ and Healthy and a little bit Fattier Steve. But he wasn’t there. To sum up – no big breakthroughs in technologies. Evolution insted of revolution, as one may say. Byt the prices – aw, these ar quite nice this time.

What will fall from the Apple tree?

leave a comment »

Today is THE day for all mac fans – the first day of the WWDC 2009 . Taking place in San Francisco, the event is expected to bring us some new gooddies. But what exactly? As it is Apple – nobody knows. But everyone is hoping for something BIG and GOOD.

Obrazek 123Two years ago during the WWDC Steve Jobs has announced the beginning of the first iPhone sale. Last year WWDC brought us the iPhone 3G. So it’s nothing strange that everyone is expecting to see some new iPhone this year.
And here is a short summary of all kind of Apple rumors:
– it is expected that Apple will show us low-budget version of iPhone, which will be less expensive that the 3G
– OR it is expected that Apple will show us a new generation iPhone (John Gruber of Daring Fireball claims that it will be called iPhone 3GS with no clue for what the “S” stands ) with some minor hardware upgrades
– the possible new iPhone should have a better camera with video-making possiblity, built-in compass, second camera for video conference and an OLED screen
– the design should be simmiliar to the 3G’s. Some claim that the new iPhone will have a matte-finished back cover
– second design rumor – multiple colour iPhones (cheaper, with weaker hardware)

– 90 % chances for the official premiere of the Snow Leopard – the new MacOS
– possible new MacBook Pros with 3G bulit-in capability
– small chances for the Mac tablet

– the first public appearance of Steve Jobs since good six months

The show will start today at 6 p.m. Warsaw time.

Microsoft has launched its new web search engine which is aimed to compete with the mighty Google. BING, because that’s how the new product has been named, is claimed to be a “decision engine”, as it suppose to help us make right decisions.

This is the third time Microsoft is taking on web searches – two previous products made in Redmond were MSN Search and Live Search. But they haven’t happen to be a real rivals for Google. Bing is hoped to make a change. Well, we’ll see.

And here are the answers for query about Polska.
