Bizarre – and I have no other word to call it

Obrazek 36It arrived from the Design Milk tweet feed today. The newbies form the San Francisco-based I.W.G. Toys and Rocket World Gallery.

I watched it once. Then for the second time. And again. OMG. For a hell long time I haven’t seen something sooo bizarre. Awfull? Drastic? Disgusting? Well, maybe yes.

Here’s the story about sweet and cute bears, zebras, elephants and rhinos who…decide to strike back and …shot to Bad Humans (here’s a movie wich explains everything). All have rifles, bombs, knives and other useful thing. If You will feel sympathy  towards any of them, you can buy a figurine of your favourties.

I’m posting here Alfonso the Rhino and Makutu the Yellow Eyed Penguin. Cute, aren’t they?

Google employs goats. Really!

with one comment

Cool example of being ecological and budget-concious at the same time. Google Inc. has just announced that it will employ goats (yes, goats, You know – those strange animals making mee-mee sound) to take care of bushes and dry grass around the Mountain View HQ. By cutting down the shrubs goats will help to prevent fires and will eliminate gasoline-eating machines. CUTE!

goatsFrom the Official Google Blog:

At our Mountain View headquarters, we have some fields that we need to mow occasionally to clear weeds and brush to reduce fire hazard. This spring we decided to take a low-carbon approach: Instead of using noisy mowers that run on gasoline and pollute the air, we’ve rented some goats from California Grazing to do the job for us (we’re not “kidding”). A herder brings about 200 goats and they spend roughly a week with us at Google, eating the grass and fertilizing at the same time. The goats are herded with the help of Jen, a border collie. It costs us about the same as mowing, and goats are a lot cuter to watch than lawn mowers.

Patricia Pancreas and Lucy Lung – quite different dolls, which make You think

leave a comment »

donor dollsDonating organs after death is very important, though controversial issue. For example, despite the fact that I know, that my liver or lung could help someone I am not sure if I would wanted to become a donor, even though I for cremation .
Maybe I will change my and in some time (it would be good, wouldn’t it?). Taking into account my statement above it may (or rather must) sound hypocritical, but I think that the organ donation is an issue worth talking about and educating about. So the people would know what choice they have.

There, I finished. The reason to write that above are really different toys created by David Foox, an artist based in Denver, Colorado. Though most probably he has created his dolls just for fun, I think that accidentally such funny story can make people think about what they can do with their livers, lungs etc. Ladies and Gentlemen, I am honoured to present to you the amazing Donor Dolls.

We have here a doll of Black Market Kidney, Red Blood Cell, Cornea and Smoker’s Lung (yuck!!!!). And 2o other. Cute, though horrible.

What I do at 2 a.m.?

with one comment

I know it must sound a bit strange and may be hard to believe, but beside all things digital and books, my other big passion is…cooking. When I can’t fall asleep after intensive day at work You would most likley find me in my kitchen, working on dacquoise torte, buckwheat blinis or some other ridicoulus thing.

Recently I have found a great new source of inspiration – a site called Tastespotting.com. In a short it is a visual potluck, gathering recent posts from houndreds of culinary blogs. On a single Tastespotting page You will find around 15 images (photographers of Nigella’s or Jamie’s books should feal jealous) with names of the dish presented. By clicking on the picture You will go to the blog’s entry with the recipe.

The Tastespotting archives are searchable and You can browse the content using different filters.

For me discovering Tastepsotting has resulted not only in cardamon and pistacchio cheesecake and new recipe for cinnamon rolls, but also few new blogs added to my Favourites and a new e-mail friend from another side of the pond.
