Samsung M1 Player

Samsung M1 Player

In last (I think;-) post form IFA I just wanted to show you some new multimedia pocket players – aka “iPod alternatives”. Well, I am not sure if anything now could be called iPod killer (it seems that Jobs’s toys are kill-proof ;-), but here are some new gadgets you’d consider when looking for some small music and video playing things. First we have Samsung M1 with AMOLED 3,3″ touch screen. It has an nVidia Tegra chipset (with HD capability) and a flash-based UI. It will handle MP3, AAC, MP4, OGG, WMQ, WAV, DivX and Xvid files and store from 8 to 32 GB of your stuff. Nice thing – it weights only 91 grams.

The second kiddo in town is Creative X-Fi2. Again, it has a 3-inch touchscreen and is equipped in memory from 8 to 32 GB which you could expand with the microSD card. It has FM radio, voice recorder and handles MP3, WMA (DRM9), Audible4, AAC, FLAC, WMV9, MPEG4-SP, DivX 4/5 Xvid files.
Both M1 and X-Fi2 are nice looking, ascetic in form. Congrats!

The last thing to mention here is the new player from Sandisk. Sansa Clip+ is a simple player, made to play music, period. It has 2 to 8 GB of internal flash memory and also uses microSd cards (also special slotRadio and slotMusic cards with music on them). Moreover it is equipped in FM radio and 1″ OLED screen, showing you all crucial information about tune played . And it really really tiny and with the clip You can easily put in on your jacket or bag strap.

Xperia Pureness – Phone Like No Other (at least as remember)

leave a comment »

Xperia Pureness

As far as I remember there was no such phone before. Just showed Xperia Pureness by Sony Ericsson is possibly the first mobile phone which with transparent screen (though we already have a very nice mobile with glass, transparent keyboard LG Crystal). The name of new model fully corresponds with its outlook – Pureness is very ascetic and elegant, with lightly marked keys and a screen through which you can see the whole world in front of you. The phone is said to be the first model illustrating the new design strategy of the company named ‘make.believe’. Pureness will hit the market in November. I like it a lot, and You?

That Is How We Will Read Newspapers

Sony Reader Daily in Landscape Orientation

By saying that traditional newspapers are becoming obsolate (or at leat that they are loosing publicity in favor of more up-to-date internet) I won’t discover wheel or even America. As well as claiming that the future of newspapers are e-newspapers, read on screens of specially designed gadgets, that could be updated more frequently than once in 24 hrs. But till now there was no such a gadget compatible with newspaper-ish layout – those available had usually too small screens. Good for reading paperbacks, but not for big pages of dailies. Some time ago Amazon has showed us Kindle DX with huuuge (as for e-book readers) 9,7″ screen, small keyboard and again huuuge price of 489 USD. And now here comes the new Sony Reader called…Daily. It has a big, 7 ” touch screen. For comfortable lecture of newspaper one would hold the Reader in landscape orientation, so half of the regular newspaper page should look nicely on the screen. Together with the WiFi module it will hold a 3G module, so one could update the content of the reader even outside the WLAN range.  In its memory Daily could hold up to 1000 e-books, with possibility of expanding with memory card.

What papers would be available on Daily? That is going to announced in following weeks. The Daily itself will hit stores 7th December with 399 USD price-tag.

Everyone who knows me know that I am a real toys maniac. Toys meaning everything electronic, preferably with display, some memory, nice features and ability to be helpful and amusing. So after some thinking I have decided to present new gadgets here as well. I will try to cover all new things coming out, as only I will think they are interesting to show 🙂 So, lets start today with something pretty, something useful and something fun:-)

Furthermore Sony has cut the PS3 *) GB price to 300 bucks and changed its name from PLAYSTATION 3 to PlayStation 3.

Really nice example of jewelery mobile phone. Jalou is a tiny clam-shell formed to look like a gemstone colours including Deep Amethyst, Aquamarine Blue and Onyx Black. The very phone has 3.2 megapixel camera (with 3,2 zoom and geo-tagging) , video recording ability, stereo FM Radio, music player, YouTube app, 3D games, Internet, Bluetooth and some rather girly features: Mirror Key (to check your make-up and hair) and Walk Mate step counter.

zuneZune HD

Now available for preorder. It has an OLED touchscreen and 16 or 32 GB drive. The bigger one cost 289 bucks, so few tens less then 32 GB iPod Touch. It cames with built-in HD Radio receiver, HD-compatible video,  navigation and games. The 32GB version holds up to 10 hours of high definition video, or 48 hours of standard definition video optimized for device, or 8,000 songs, or 25,000 pictures.

Samsung T550image002

We already have cameras with projector, cameras making 3d pictures and now we have have a gadget with two displays, perfect for those who make mainly pictures of them selves. New Samsung camera has 12megapixel CCD sensor, 4.6″ optical zoom, 720p video recording capability, 3,5 ” LCD screen,  SDHC card slot and interesting Smart Gestures function. Kindle DX form Amazon - a new newspaper?

Kindle DX from Amazon - a new newspaper?

Ofcourse as long as we are talking about what Jeff Bezos wanted to show us. The official name of new e-book (e-magazines, e-dailies, e-everything-printed) device is Kindle DX.

As it was presumed it has 9,7 ” e-ink, black and white screen. It can show not only books but works great with papers and other bigger paper stuff. It can store 3,500 books or periodicals and doiwnloading one title should last more or less 1 minute.

It will cost 489 USD which could potential cap its sales.More About Kindle DX (together with information about pre-order sale) here.

Amazon taking on Newspapers – Will Kindle have a Bigger Brother ?

leave a comment »

“Newspapers are dying”  – I think I am hearing this nearly as often as “Good morning”. In the world of internet and NewS Google it is quite natural that people are abandoning traditional newspapers and switching to more up-to-date media. Personally I am taking newspapers only to read some longer op-ed article or review – things that are hardly found  but what more important  – uncomfortable to read on the screen.

Plastic Solution has it's own idea of newspapers e-reader. Would Big Kindle look alike? We shall get know in coming days

Plastic Logic has it's own idea of newspapers e-reader. Would Big Kindle look alike? We shall get know in coming days

So it is not a surprise that FINALLY someone has (or so it is said) to combine dailies (or rather their titles) and internet. As New York Times writes, that someone is Amazon.com.  With a successful experience with Kindle Amazon is claimed to launch a bigger e-reader which is developed mainly for reading newspapers and magazines. For that reason it would have a bigger screen, but despite that fact it would be as thin as a A4 notepad.

NYT is saying that the launch of Kindle’s Bigger Bro could take place as soon as this week. Today is Monday so we shall quickly now if Bezos is hiding something in his pocket.
