Masz pomysł na aplikację? To jest dla ciebie pewien konkurs

leave a comment »

Two Billions Hit!

leave a comment »

As it was in Sesame Street I should start” Today post is sponsoed by the number 2 billions”. that is the number of iPhone and iPod Touch applications downloaded from the AppStore so far. As Apple has announced, today in AppStore shelves you can find more than 85 thousands of applications (more than 21 K of them are games). The possible number of customers counts for 50 millions – that is how many iPhones and iPod Touch devices have been sold. And for dessert – 125 K – that is how many developers have joined the iPhone Developers Program.

A ofercie sklepu AppStore jest ponad 85 tysięcy pozycji

There is more than 85K applications in AppStore to choose form

Once someone has counted that many application downloaded to iPhone are being used only once – in the day of downloading. On the second hand there are some apps – sometimes ridiculously simple – that are becoming a real bestseller (for example the Koi Pond App – a virtual aquarium with some gold fish in  it) and are visible on bestseller lists for many weeks.  But virtually I think that you can find in AppStore everything – there is something for gamers, for Sudoku fans, for gourmand, cooks, painters, photography amateurs etc.
I won’t discover America saying that AppStore has been as strong success factor for iPhone as the iTunes and iTuens Store have been for iPods. Without the service the same device wouldn’t become such a hit and wouldn’t gained so much interest among users. Today, when Apple is announcing the 2 billion sale figure, other giants like Nokia, Google Palm or windows – or having own application markets – must feel a bit sad and being pretty far behind.

A potem leży odłogiem w pamięci urządzenia.

Another computer-like mobile from Finland

leave a comment »

Few days ago I have written about finally announced, long-awaited and even longer roumored Nokia Booklet 3g – the first laptop (or , being precise – mini notebook) form the Finnish giant. And today Nokia has present yet another device with netbook capabilities – N900. It runs on Linux-based Maemo 5 software. With 1 GB Ram and ARM Cortex-A8 processor it should handle few applications running simultaneously, so work as computer and as regular mobile phone as well. It has WiFi, HSPA module, 32 GB memory on board (with possibility of expansion with memory cards) touchscreen and full QWERTY keyboard. All that in the device size of regular mobile phone. It shall cost 500 Euro so a bit and arrive in shops in Q4.

Nokia Music Store FINALLY in Poland

Nokia Music Store Homepage

Nokia Music Store Homepage

Nokia has recently launched its Nokia Music Store in Poland. THe first branches of this internet based music and audiobooks outlet were launched last year, first in Great Britain tahn in France, Germany and other major West European countries. Now, finally, Finnish Music Store has arrived to Poland.
Currently its offering more than 4,5 millions of tracks (ca 40 % of the amount offered by iTunes). For one track You must pay 3,49 PLN, and for the whole album (regardless of the number of songs on it) 34,90 PLN.
I have tried Nokia Mucis Store and it really works. It is simple to run and You really don’t need to look into manual. Whats more in the store You will find some exclusives (like the new Moby’s album few days before it’s official premiere) and songs of most famous artist but also independent groups.
It is really a good application and a good store with good offer. BUT

But in my oppinion it didn’t fully took advantage of its position and being first in Poland before Apple and its iTunes. Why? Beacause Nokia Music Store is available only for the PC and Windows users. You may say – OK, it clear – they didn’t make application for Mac users, as they would surely use iTunes. But Nokia has forgotten that there are some countries (like for example 40 million people Poland) where there is no iTunes but there are some Mac users who can not – theoretically – use iTunes store. Whats more if Nokia really wants to be a competitor to Apple (who is no longer computer producer but also a MOBILE PHONE producer) it should address Mac users as well.
As a Mac user AND a huge Nokia fan (for me really no mobile phone – excluding iPhone – is as friendly and practical as Nokia) I am a bit sad and dissapointed that I cannot use my Nokia Music Account on my MacBook and its native OS but has to switched to Windows. A bit to much fuss to download one song…..I hope it will change. SOONER than the Nokia Music Store has arrived here.
